The climate in Bellagio is similar to that of the Italian Riviera in Liguria. Even though it is much further north and at the foot of the Alps, there are many flower nurseries and gardens with citrus fruits and tropical plants. This has happened thanks to the great mass of water (Lake Como is the deepest in Europe at 418 metres) which regulates the temperature creating a mild micro-climate. The Hotels of Bellagio
Bellagio offers a great variety of accommodation, from a 5-star deluxe hotel to family-run B&B. Almost all the hotels are housed in charming and well preserved period buildings. Each one has its own peculiarities, the architecture, the location the view, the garden, the terrace… The Curiosities of the Casino
The Hotel Bretagne, now disused, housed a famous Casino until the 1930s. The licence was then given to Campione d’Italia which built its fortune on the on the Bellagio legacy. Barche
The vegetation in Bellagio
In Bellagio one can find a unique combination of three types of vegetation: alpine, sub-alpine and Mediterranean. Cypresses and pines on the shores, vines and olives on the sunny slopes, chestnut, beech, walnut, and conifers on the mountains. And flowers of every type and colour, even tropical plants. It is an earthly paradise. |
